Add a comma before “supra”
Warning2Federal courts, Illinois courts21st and 22nd editions
The “supra” short form runs the author's name, a comma, then “supra”; without the comma the phrase reads as a cross-reference to your own document.1
- 1R. 4.2(a) “Supra.”. Tables: R. 3.5 Internal Cross-References.
- 2A warning: the form is usually wrong under the rule in note 1, and context can justify it.
